Rotary table workholding

Designed using the DX6 CrossOver hydraulic vise with a trunnion mounted onto a 4th axis rotary table, the rotary table workholding system uses double-acting hydraulics for automated part loading and unloading via a robotic system. Additionally, the system can be used for manual part loading and unloading.

Suited to 3-axis vertical machining centers, the system provides three-side access to the part to be machined, allowing more complex machining and contouring work.

The vise’s high clamping force keeps workpieces rigid as they are machined on each side. Chips evacuate straight through the body at sides and end of the vise to prevent chip build-up.

Silent tools for turning

Silent Tools Plus tool holders embed connectivity within the adaptor to collect and analyze real-time data from the machining process. Operators gain insight into what is happening inside slender tubular components and can detect if there is too much vibration or if the surface quality is at risk of being compromised. Machine runtime is reduced without the tool in cut.

The vibration indicator detects machining issues early, preventing vibration-associated issues such as noise, poor surface quality, and accelerated tool wear. A center height setting displays the level of the cutting edge to quickly and easily set requirements, resulting in better machining performance and longer tool life.

A pre-tuned dampener inside the tool body minimizes vibration. The design allows increased metal removal rates, improved surface finish, secure processes, and reduced production costs.

The tool’s turning adaptor also includes a Wedge Lock quick-change interface between the adaptor and cutting head, suitable for machining long, tubular parts.
