The Power Clamp Comfort i4.0 shrink-fit system comes with a 7" touch display, intuitive software, is network compatible, and Industry 4.0-ready. Features such as illustrated functions, clear symbols, and larger fonts deliver a user-friendly interface. Standard equipment includes a rotary table with three stations, a cooling manager, and single spider chuck support for the rotary table. An optional laser scanner reads and automatically sets shrinking parameters via Data-Matrix codes now incorporated on all shrink chucks. Also, an HD coil can be used to shrink heavy-duty shrink chucks up to 2" in diameter. Haimer USA
Vision system simplifies tool detection, alignment
The Walter Tool Vision System automatically detects and aligns tools, blanks, and other workpieces. Developed to simplify measurement operations for advanced tool grinding/eroding machines equipped with robotic part loaders, the system helps manufacturers optimize production of small, high-precision parts.
The contact-free detection system can quickly identify the orientation of tools or blanks, such as those with brazed Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD) plates on the front, sintered PCD veins, or cooling channels. During idle time, automatic detection performance saves time compared to manual measurement and eliminates human errors or risk of probe contact damaging the part.
A permanent part of robotic cells, the Tool Vision System may be equipped with two lenses, depending on part size: one lens for parts 1.7mm to 12mm in diameter, the other for parts with 6mm to 32mm diameters.
The EGH Co-act gripper simplifies automation with a collaborative robot (cobot). Easy to install and control, and fully programmable to ensure flexible workpiece handling, the EGH is suited for handling and assembly.
Additional features include:
- Integrated status display to visualize current operational status at eye level
- Control via IO-Link to pre-position gripper fingers, evaluate gripper condition
- Gripper movement with parallel kinematics for constant gripping force during the entire stroke
- Easily accessible quick-release assembly lock for simple, quick mounting to the lightweight robot
- Optional flexible gripper fingers to improve flexibility, range of gripper use
Linear performance milling machine
The Mikron HSM 200U LP (linear performance) milling machine with pallet changer is available in 3- and 5-axis (full simultaneous) versions for machining small, highly complex medical components.
The HSM 200U LP generates part surface finishes as fine as Ra 0.05µm thanks to linear motor technology in its main machine axes and optimized direct-drive motors for the B- and C-axis. The machine’s 50,000rpm, 11.4hp Step-Tec spindle further contributes to precise part details and consistent surface finishes.
Paired with optional Mikron pallet magazines with System 3R and Erowa interfaces, the HSM 200U LP delivers unattended 24/7 machining. The fully integrated pallet magazines can be loaded without interrupting cutting operations already in progress.
A Heidenhain iTNC 530 control system and smart machining modules on the HSM 200U LP provide advanced levels of monitoring. The system allows the machine to automatically check and evaluate tools and workpieces, inspect tools for breakage, and perform workpiece measurements. The smart machine modules automatically monitor spindle vibration, calibrate machine geometry, and transmit process status messages to an operator’s cell phone.
Marking, cleaning tools
AMF marking tools permanently mark workpieces made from metal and thermoplastic substrates. Typically mounted in toolholders for use in the spindle of a CNC machine tool, the tools mark surfaces by a combination of pressure and material displacement. The tools can function with or without rotation and usually without height adjustment on the spindle for high-speed, highly efficient marking without substrate degradation. Very thin material and cylindrical workpieces can be easily marked.
AMF cleaning tools are used to clean workpieces, tooling, and CNC machine interiors. They are typically clamped in toolholders and mounted directly onto the machine spindle. Using through-spindle coolant or compressed air, the cleaning tool removes swarf and other debris from workpieces, clamping tools, rotary tables, and other fixtures before the next workpiece blank is loaded. Models are available in horizontal or vertical styles to suit the machine spindle configuration and feature adjustable jet nozzles for precise cleaning, conserving coolant or compressed air.
Multi-spindle automatic lathe
The 6-spindle Index MS32-6 automatic lathe brings benefits of multi-spindle technology with its flexible tool slide platform for reduced changeover times.
Accommodating up to 32mm bar stock, the MS32-6 handles a variety of complex parts as the machine is equipped with 12 cross slides, with two V-shaped cross slides equipped with X- and Z-axis located at each spindle position. Implementing C- and Y-axis with live tools allows for a range of machining processes including off-center drilling, threading, contouring, hobbing, and polygonal turning. All of the slides can also be alternatively configured for grooving or drilling.
Each cross slide in the MS32-6 incorporates Index’s W-serration locating system that provides µm-accurate alignment of the tool holder. Coupled with the company’s quick clamping device, tools can be set up off the machine then quickly installed, reducing tool change times 50%. The machine incorporates the same W-serration system on its live units for drilling, milling, and polygonal turning.
